Adult, Adolescent, and Child Psychiatrist

Dr. Katie Melnyk, MD is a double-board certified Adult, Adolescent, and Child psychiatrist in New York City. She completed rigorous training in Adult Psychiatry at the New York University School of Medicine, where she received an award for her “Commitment to Scholarly Excellence”. She then went on to complete further specialty training in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons and Weill Cornell Medical College at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital. She has served as Clinical Associate Professor at the NYU School of Medicine and was Associate Medical Director of the NYU Medical Student and House Staff Mental Health Clinic, where she provided care for doctors in training.

Dr. Melnyk is trained in multiple psychotherapeutic modalities and offers insight-oriented therapy either exclusively or in combination with medications. When using medications, she will collaborate with you on your goals and use a careful and thoughtful approach towards medications. As a therapist, she draws from her years of training and experience in psychodynamic, cognitive behavioral, and mindfulness based therapies. Her approach incorporates compassion, warmth, mutual respect, and a bit of humor.
